Heading North on West Burt Lake Road, you will come to the "hogs back", a gravel sometimes bumpy mile or so of road over a very high ridge. While driving you may notice that the  tree tops to your right are at road level. The Carp Creek crosses the road about a third of the way down. It is a small stream that originates about 1/2 mile upstream. It is spring fed. If you or your vehicle do not like bumpy gravel roads, you might want to follow W Burt Lake Road to Riggsville Road, then turn back to the south on E. Burt Lake Road.
