Looking for a campsite? Burt
Lake State Park is open from May 15 through December 2. Motor vehicles
entering the State Park are required to have a State Park Motor Vehicle
Permit displayed on the windshield, which may be purchased from Burt
Lake or any other Michigan State Park. The
registration office is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Reservations must be made through the Central Reservation System. Phone reservations can be made by calling toll-free 1-800-44PARKS. You can also reserve a campsite online. The Burt Lake State Park is located at 6635 State Park Drive, Indian River, across from Big Bear Adventures. If you already have a place to stay in Indian River, you can also enjoy Burt Lake State Park for its many other features. The park also offers a beach area, two playgrounds, ball diamond, horseshoe pits, beach volleyball, picnic shelter and two picnic areas, and boat launch. |

Indian River Michigan offers countless opportunities for trail seekers of all levels. Indian River is located on the North Central State Trail which has a hard packed crushed limestone surface. The North Central Trail is 62 miles long and runs from Gaylord to Mackinaw City. Marked trails in the nearby Wildwood Hills trail system offer the wilderness experience close to town. The Little Traverse Conservancy also has 3 local nature preserves with marked hiking trails. For the more experienced and/or adventuresome, there is thousands of acres of state forest land all within a short drive of Indian River. Contact the Tourist Bureau for more information. |

Indian River is located near two major ORV/Motorcycle trail systems. The Tomahawk Trail is located South of Indian River and consists of several loops The Black Lake Area trail system consists of nearly 40 miles of trails. Indian River Michigan is a paradise for paddlers of all skill levels. Miles of scenic rivers ranging from the slow moving Pigeon River to the fast water Sturgeon will provide just what you are looking for. The calm waters of the Pigeon flow through the Pigeon River Forest and "elk country" finally ending at Mullett Lake. The Sturgeon River with a decent of nearly 14 feet per mile is a Class I-II fast water, the most challenging in the Lower Peninsula. The Sturgeon River flows into Burt Lake. |

Indian River, Michigan, the heart of the Inland Waterway, is home to some of the best fishing anywhere. Cooperation
Park is a 60 acre multipurpose public recreational facility,
baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, skating rink, soccer
fields, basketball court, horseshoe pits, hiking trails.
There is also a 200-400 foot enclosed play area for children,
brand new 6,000 square foot play structure, additional play equipment,
picnic tables and a walking track.
Located off Hwy. 27 at the south end of Indian River. DeVoe Public Beach located within walking distance of downtown Indian River offers a sandy beach for swimming and a board walk along the Indian River for fishing. |
